Northwestern University Early Decision thread 2010

The golf course? I’ve been there once so I’m probably not who you’re thinking.

No, nevermind. It’s an art school that I went to for camp for a couple years, and I was looking through some of my friends’ pictures, and someone named Jono Kaufman was tagged in some of them.

not me .

Are the results coming out on the 15th for sure?
I remember that NU results came out much later then the said date…

We all think a little earlier, this friday at the earliest. They won’t (and never have) come out after the 15th.

Just a few days left

Gratz on your name DaKniFe. Very classy

It sounds like we all assume the ED notifications will all go out more-or-less in unison, rather than being trickled out over a period of days or on different days for different colleges within NU. True?

6 days till the 15th! I really hope you guys are right in saying we’ll find out sooner… I’m so nervous!

Well I tried to get more info, not much luck. I called NU Admissions, she did say all results will go out at the same time. Would not say for sure when they would go out. I asked if the subject line of the email would give away the decision, like will it say “Congradulations, or We Regret to inform you”. She didn’t seem to understand the question, but said that yes it would. I hope not, that stinks! I would like my daughter to not be alone when she hears. Good or bad. We were going to wait to open the email till I was home from work, but now it sounds like she’ll know just by looking to see if the email is there.

HOPEFULLY they send the emails out early! I’ll be checking my email all night because I probably won’t be able to sleep…

I really don’t know what to think. I know I will cry for the rest of the day if i get rejected… but if I get in… omg… I wouldn’t know how excited I will be.

I think I remember reading in “Emotional Intelligence” that possibly the most important skill to teach your children is delayed gratification. If your DD could honestly wait until you got home to open this e-mail, it sounds like you’ve done an amazing parenting job! ;-D

I really don’t feel to confident in what the lady told me, she did not seem to understand what I was referring to when I said “in the subject line”. She said the whole letter will be attached, and I was like, “yeah, I know, but my concern is will the subject line give it away”. She said yes, but I didn’t feel like we were on the same page.

So remember the “good juju” snow baby that I got with the letter and a purple heart? Today I did some bad juju and I have to go correct it. You’ll think I’m crazy! I bought a pair of U of M slippers for my daughters stocking in case she doesn’t get in to Northwestern. I just got them this afternoon, but I feel like they are bad luck and I am going to return them tonight! Aren’t I silly?

From: Northwestern University Subject: Congratulations

Body:
Congratulations! You’ve allowed room for someone else to be accepted because you were not.

Hahaha, Destroyer, you are a riot!

haha destroyer I’m sitting here in the library and that made me laugh out loud. If I get an e-mail that looks like that…

Uh guys, I found this thread, what do you think?..

Posts: 3 Looks like I’ll be joining you at NU! I had my school couselor look at the email, just to be sure I wasn’t crazy, and she told me it was definitely an acceptance. I’m so excited, just when I was all settled in to wait for April and RD, my top school contacts me!

Nice! Yeah I actually had my teachers read it too haha
This goes to show that we will all have opportunities for college despite not being matched

So everyone should have hope!

Either this is bogus, or that person is some exceptional superfreak who Northwestern wants extraordinarily badly, which I doubt. Could you please post the link to that thread?

nvm, I found it.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/questbridge-programs/1042917-anyone-who-wasnt-matched-receive-admission-northwestern.html

It seems relatively credible, but why would QuestBridge RD applicants receive decisions earlier than ED applicants? That seems really shady.
