I was just looking at the Cornell thread and it’s definitely interesting to see that the applicants are all over the place. I saw a few kids with 2250s on their SATs were rejected and a few with less than 2000 accepted… of course SAT scores don’t represent the applicant very much.

No way are we the biggest early thread. Go take a look at the Stanford one. It’s unbelievable.

Oh my gosh. I went to it and saw 345 pages and though “oh, this must be over like 2 years or something” wow. Over 300 pages in only a few months…
crazy long

Anyone else finding themselves constantly floating back to this thread to see when something new was posted, only to be disappointed that it’s nothing useful?

YES. I’m waiting for the first person to post “OMGOMGOMG CHECK YOUR E-MAILS!”

Now watch 5 people misread that line and rush to their inboxes.

same. i always check hoping that its something about getting the e-mail but sometimes what it realt is is interesting too. (not as interesting as decision info, but yeah haha)

Hey so I guess it’s possible (highly unlikely, but possible) that if the date is tomorrow we find out in an hour. I’ll probably be up just in case.

hahaha all the above is making me laugh. This thread is usually great for a good laugh. Even if we’re not Mr. 300 pages blah blah hahaha

destroyer you should just skip college and become a comedian. you always make me laugh haha

AHHHHHHHHH I JUST READ THE LAST 6 Pages of this thread NOW because my internet was down I’m literally about to die from the suspense OMG AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I’d just like to take this moment to say thank you, everyone here, for being as crazy and weird as me for checking a thread written by complete strangers every day because it’s the only thing that calms me down.
I’ll be refreshing my phone all night.
Forget my physics and gov tests tomorrow haha…

Alright I’m sleeping. Tomorrow could be quite the day! Lets not get our hopes up about it being tomorrow. Now i have 2 things to not get my hopes up about!

When are ED applicants finding out?!

I wish we could all get together in front of one big computer screen tonight and await the results. I’m rootin for all of you kids! I feel motherly anticipation for all of you. Good Luck, and if you get a no response, it will be ok. Everything happens for a reason. But I do hope each and every one of you gets a great big yes!

ED decisions via email on 12/14. Just repeating from my earlier post.

So… if “the date” is not late this afternoon as some have suggested, how many people here will be completing and/or submitting more college aps this weekend?

DD has two applications she REALLY has to finish and submit this weekend to make the deadlines because of her impossible schedule between now and Jan. 1.

It would sure be nice if she knows something before the weekend, but otherwise she’ll be writing college essays.

Anyone else in the same boat?

If we get a no response from NU, then my daughter will probably add one more app to Mich State to her list just in case U of M is a no as well. I don’t think she’ll do anything until we know for sure from NU.

Today could be the day… wow! Since I was little, I’ve imagined getting a letter in the mail, but at this point, I don’t care if I find out by post, email, carrier pigeon… I just wanna know!

My brother already applied to Michigan State and is waiting for NU. Do you really think it’s today?

Maybe someone else should take a crack at an anonymous phone call to admissions to ask when the decisions will be sent…just sayin. The lady I talked to was a grump, but most of the people there are really nice.

847-491-7271 option 4

yes, we are , too, at least for the administrative part of the app process; son still needs to do the supps for the other phase 2 / plan B colleges. In fact, son told me today that his GC wanted him to come into her office today to write out envelope addresses for teacher LOR’s (school is still in snail mail). Thing is, there are ALOT of them (around , I dunno 10, at least) - wide net strategy for RD.

Logically, the GC s/ not do this exercise til after the NU decision, but maybe she did not process this aspect. But WE awhile ago had already asked for the plan B colleges transcripts to be sent from the HS (since we did not want to send a request to the HS to send a cajillion of them all at once in mid December) - this is why the GC is dropping the other administrative shoe.

NU is more of reach for son, and as I say, plan with your safeties, dream with your reaches.

we are still thinking and hoping for NU - plan A, the ideal college - to provide the correct answer for us-and-NU (NU, just think of all those endowment contributions this successful engineer-to-be will give over his lifetime; might as well be NU
) , which of course is an acceptance, and hopefully, this plan B contingency work is like the proverbial umbrella - if you bring it to the Sox game, it will not rain; if you don’t bring it, it always seems to rain.

Every person I had talked to at NU was nice so far. I say just let them do their thing and wait patiently. Having a robust plan B at least gives one lots of other things to do while waiting. It also forces you to find the positives in other schools.
