I feel like NU is one of those schools that does everything they can to lower their acceptance rate each year. With top schools like that it’s sometimes hard to know what their expectations will be from year to year and what exactly they’re looking for. Obviously, your test scores are great and your GPA doesn’t seem problematic to me at all. It’s kind of a crapshoot, I think. Like, I think you definitely have a chance but it’s anyone’s guess.
Northwestern is an amazing school for journalism! I’m a journalism student at the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse which is also a great school for journalism if you’re interested in still looking at other options.
Thank you so much for the reply!
I agree, Northwestern is very difficult to get into. I’ll definitely look into Syracuse as well. I’ve heard a lot of great things about their communications school!
We don’t have class ranking but I would assume at least the top 5%. We have roughly 2500 students. I’m taking 2 AP classes this coming year and they are all advanced or AP classes.
I think you have a decent shot of getting in, just make sure that your work hard on yours essays and supplementary materials! I would also take a look at Missouri Columbia (Mizzou Tigers) for Journalism. They have a top 10 journalism school in the nation and is much cheaper than northwestern…they also offer merit scholarships
