Northwestern University Engineering Applicant

I’m a student applying RD to Northwestern University for chemical engineering. I have decent, not great, scores, 770 Math 2, 760 Chem, 2140 SAT (CR730 M760 W650), ACT 32 (Math 34, Science 33, English 28, Writing 8). I know my subject test scores are not stellar but I never took any AP Chemistry (I take IB) and I am currently taking AP Calculus AB (as well as 4 other AP courses and another IB course), I have a decent GPA (4.1 with weight) and I’d like to know if I have a good shot of getting into the engineering program. I’m curios if my writing scores are likely to harm my application. Also I’d like to know if I don’t get into the engineering program, is it possible for me to still be accepted and major in chemistry?
I have good ECs (tutoring, 3 varsity sports, NHS, jazz band etc.) two good letters of rec (from my English and Economics teachers) and decent essays for application. Lastly, I got a 4 on AP Lang and a 5 on AP Micro, should I report these scores or will they not really help an application for engineering?

NWU: Reach

Reach

NWU is definitely a reach. I would know as I’m in the same boat as you. However, don’t lose hope. There is always a chance that you may get in.
Chance me:

I think Northwestern is a reach for anyone applying RD because of how many spots they have filled up with ED. So you still have a chance just like everyone else!

@queserrva Please chance! You are the NU expert haha

@NUapplicant166 NU will be a reach even for those with a 2400 SAT. I think you have a decent shot. I would report your AP scores. ACT is a little weak but I don’t think it will make or break you. NU engineering is very competitive; the expected acceptance rate this year is 5-7%. And no, you can only apply engineering or chemistry since they are in different schools. Keep in mind though, you can easily transfer between schools if you are accepted. Good luck!
