Northwestern vs. Cornell - Help, please?

@ahp1994. I think you’ve echoed everything I said to my two sons for the last five years. I’ve always referred to it as “bands”. Basically, that their credentials enabled them to apply to bands of schools…that they’d get in at some and wouldn’t at others…that they shouldn’t get too attached to their application choices…wait for the admission notices and go from there. I’ve also told them the same exact thing…that besides HYPS (on the national universities), if the words ivy league didn’t exist, I truly believe that some kids would have chosen to go to different schools than they did. As for northwestern or Cornell…or any of the other great, great schools…here’s what happens: you get a great education, hopefully a great experience, excellent brand (some a little better than others), etc. But, a choice at this “band” level should all be about “where do I see myself” and how will this institution best help me when I exit it to the next level of my life…all while enjoying some of the best four years of your life.

Cornell as a ‘state school’

Fact – Three of the 7 undergraduate colleges at Cornell are ‘contract’ schools. They receive funds from the State of NY and offer reduced tuition to NYS residents. The SUNY website lists these colleges as part of the SUNY system

[SUNY: Complete Campus List](http://www.suny.edu/student/campuses_complete_list.cfm)

Fact: If you go to these colleges, you attend classes at the Cornell Campus, Can take classes in any of the undergraduate colleges, are fully integrated with other Cornell Students. You will receive a degree from Cornell University.

Question – why is this relevant?

^Northeast Snobbery- people will denigrate it as SUNY-Ithaca.

So why is it important? It’s not. At all.

LOL, arbiter you’re a RINGER, I knew you knew the answer.
