Northern Georgia is more liberal. Southern Georgia is more conservative and reflective of the old South.

Atlanta may be relatively (or seem) liberal and progressive when compared to the rest of the South but incidence like this sorta reminds you it is indeed still the South.

Got to love how it involved FORTY-NINE officers; didn’t they have more serious crimes to deal with in the city with one of the highest homicide rate??

Not to stray too far asunder, but in Portland, where I reside, the police chief regularly marches in the gay rights parade and Mayor Sam Adams is, as far as I know, the only openly gay mayor of a major US city. HW Bush refers to it as “Little Beirut” because of the welcome he received. GW was a no-show.

I left Chicago 20 years ago but my daughter will start NU next week. She would be appalled at discrimination against gays.

The police switched from one excuse to another but I am very sure drug use is a lame one. Drugs are 10000000000x more prevalent in just about all dance party clubs with larger and younger crowds, regardless whether they are gay or straight, than a relatively boring and small leather bar like Eagle with usually older patrons. If they had to raid Eagle for that, they should have been way too busy with many others.

Apparently the anti-gay slur in the news today originated from the ATLANTA office of Senator Saxby Chambliss. Hmmmm, seems to be a pattern here.

Emory is a fine school and from what it seems, your gut is telling you to go there. Likewise, I love Northwestern, and my gut told me to come here so I went with it and have been extremely pleased with my choice.
