Northwestern vs. Johns Hopkins

One reason why I am leaning more towards Northwestern is because I have heard that the professors at hopkins are distant and too focused on their research, is that true? Also does anyone know the acceptance rate to medical school from both universities?

Check out the front page of JHU today ([Johns Hopkins University](http://www.jhu.edu)) for a story showing professors working with undergrads for research. So no, professors definitely work with undergrads. You have to visit. You shouldn’t let unfounded rumors affect your decision.

The harbor is basically a tourist trap and in no way does DC come close to rivaling Chicago when it comes to restaurants, bars, clubs, etc.

Frankly, this is a laughable statement.

Adam’s Morgan, Dupont Circle and all the other places in DC and Baltimore don’t equal the no. of entertainment venues in Chicago.

DC is very much like Boston, after a while you pretty much have hit most of the “social scene” and in comparison, Baltimore is far smaller (Fells Point? Federal Hill? Give me a break, they are nice, but absolutely tiny.)

Outside of LA (which isn’t really a proper “city”), Chicago has the closest thing to a nightlife that equals Manhattan; basically, one could spend your weekends at venues in Chicago during the 4 yrs of school w/o hitting all the spots.

I have two days to hand in my decision and I am strongly leaning towards Northwestern. While I love the academics, lack of core courses etc, at Hopkins, I favor the atmosphere of Northwestern more, I like the Big 10 appeal and I dislike what I saw of Hopkins socially (i.e. the Hopkins 500). If anyone wants to weigh in with last minute comments, please do! I am not 100% decided.
