Northwestern vs Penn

I cannot decide where to apply ED to this fall. I love both schools and am looking for insider info on either. If you have anything to contribute please do!

It might depend on location… Our S was considering Penn, but decided on NU - close enough to home that me and Mom could go see him play his college sport.

You should visit both places and decide for yourself. We all know Penn is an incredible school and is slightly more prestigious but then its ED rate is also lower. I personally don’t really like Philly that much; it is grittier and dirtier than most major cities.

Our daughter was trying to decide between Penn, NU and WashU for ED. She ultimately chose NU, went there and has never looked back.
I see what she loved. From a parent’s perspective, I think it’s one of the very best schools I’ve seen.
The academics are top tier. The student body is bright, friendly and involved. The beachfront location is cool, and the proximity to Chicago, without being in it, is wonderful.
She also loved the quarter system, because it made taking lots of courses - and double majoring - easy.

I can’t speak for other schools, but I absolutely fell in love with NU ad I’m so glad I applied early. I love the people, to proximity to Chicago, the professors…it’s all really awesome and I’m so happy here.
