How in the world was financial aid the same at the schools yet you were waitlisted everywhere but Northwestern? They don’t give aid awards if you were waitlisted.

Jwest, all of those schools are 100% need met. My parents income is below $60,000 so other than EFC, cost would be nothing since it would be covered by the school. I did get off the wait list for these schools but I think I am happy with my choice of NU. I’m still open to hearing other thoughts and opinions!
I don’t know much about Yale, Columbia, or Duke, but I’m committed to NU for Engineering and have similar interests as you. (Material Science, Nano Tech, Entrepreneurship).
I got the vibe that NU is a power house for those 3 areas^
I could kind of relate to you, since I chose NU over Cornell and Brown, and people think I’m crazy for choosing it over two ivies. But the (insignificant) differences in prestige won’t really make a difference in your future; you are in control of your own success, not the school.
Here are some reasons why I chose NU- Flexibility of switching majors/schools, Internship opportunities near big city of Chicago, Atmosphere- students seemed happy, collaborative, down to earth.
Overall, NU seemed like a fun and chill place with the added bonus of great academics. If you end up sticking with NU, we should meet up sometime
