Northwestern

I admit, my gpa is terrible, however, ive improved over the years. But I think I might have a shot at Northwestern…or am I being too optimistic? Here’s basically everything from my high school career so far:
Freshman year: All regular classes
First semester gpa: 3.2
Second semester: 2.8
Sophomore Year: English 2 Honors
Chemistry Honors
Algebra 2 (From Soph. year, i was one grade level ahead in math)
Govt/Contemp History
Spanish 3
Piano
Speech
First semester gpa: 3.2
Second Semester: 3.4
Junior Year: Anatomy/Biotech
Physics
AP Psychology
U.S History
English 3
Pre Calc
I was a student leader for gym
First semester gpa: 3.5
Second Semester: 3.7

Senior Year Schedule: AP Bio
AP Seminar (Part of AP Capstone program)
World Literature
AP Calc AB (only first semester of College calc)
Study hall
Sociology

Overall GPA so far: 3.3
ACT Score: 28

Extra Curricular: Speech (3 years) (1 Year as Speech Captain.)
Link Crew Leadership Program (2 years)
Yearbook (2 years)
Mini Medical School Experience
Shadowed a surgeon
200+ hours of volunteering at a hospital
Been on the Honor Roll about 3-4 times

that’s it. If you want to know why my gpa was so low at the beginnning, its because of lack of confidence. But a few incidents forced me to stop fearing so much and to just give it my best. I know I slacked off really badly at first. But I improved. So, do you guys think I have a shot at Northwestern at all? Thanks for reading this EXTRA long post!

So your current GPA is a 3.7 yes?
Well it looks like your test scores and ECs are lacking a bit. You can always take the ACT again or try the SAT. You’ll want at least a 30 on the ACT, although realistically a 32 would be more or less ideal. Your GPA is a little low however. In general your chances seem pretty low.

Yeah, it’s a 3.7 currently.
