I was accepted to MIT, yet waitlisted to both Uchicago and NW hahahahahah. Some colleges are weird. I wouldn’t have attended anyways, so yeah.

My Why NU was pretty generic, but well-written and honest.
[] Summer Activities: Went to Summer Camp at NU. Thought that would work out in my favor.
[] Essays: Common App Essay was amazing. I suppose that my NU Statement could have been better, but I thought that it was very good.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I didn’t get to see these.
[] Counselor Rec: I did not get to see these.
[] Additional Rec: I had one additional recommendation from a professional editor I have worked with. I thought that it would turn out well.
[li] Interview: Contacted them, but they never emailed me back.[/li][/ul]

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I thought that I had an amazing amount of journalistic experience, with the right range of grades and test scores.
[] Weaknesses: My GPA and class rank were a little weak, mostly because of math. But I had a very strong class to contend with. A lot of amazing people.
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I am in shock. I suppose that it was my math, but I at least thought that I would get a waitlist.
[] Where else were you waitlisted: U of C and Wash U Waitlisted. This has not been a good spring break.[/ul]
**General Comments: I am really at a loss. I was praying that I would get in, and I thought that I had a shot at Northwestern. I know that it’s always a crap shoot, but honestly, I thought that my statistics and journalism experience would be perfect for Medill. My world is kind of shattered right now. Congrats to those accepted. **

Decision: Accepted to McCormick

Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Alot. With 3 Presidencies, 1 VP, and 2 Treasuries
[] Job/Work Experience: Same job for almost 4 years with promotions annually.
[] Volunteer/Community service: Decent amount, nothing spectacular here.
[] Summer Activities: Working. ALOT.
[] Essays: Fairly good, but more importantly it showed a devotion to NWU.
[] Teacher Recommendation: GREAT!
[] Counselor Rec: Probably Generic
[] Additional Rec: GREAT!
[li] Interview: Literally thought it went awful. Worst one out of all of mine.[/li][/ul]

Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): NY
[] Country (if international applicant): US
[] School Type: Rural (750 students total)
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: >100 K (applied for aid)
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None[/ul]
[/li]

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Active in extracurriculars with alot of leadership and very diverse student.
[] Weaknesses: SAT IIs, Essays, Interview
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Leadership and passion for the school. Stats don’t hurt either.
[] Where else were you accepted/rejected/waitlisted:Rejected from UChicago. Accepted to Fordham and Illinois Institute of Technology.[/ul]
General Comments: DON’T EVER THINK THAT YOUR DECISION AT ONE SCHOOL MEANS ANYTHING ANYWHERE ELSE. I worked my ass off on my UChicago application, and got rejected, but NWU must have seen something in me. Admissions is a crazy game, just try not to get stressed out!

Decision: Waitlisted (not going to bother with colors) from SESP- Learning and Organizational Change

SAT 1: 2330 (800 CR, 730 M, 800 CR)
SAT 2: 750 Math 1 (this looked so bad), 790 US History
GPA: 3.95 unweighted, 4.6/4.7 weighted
Class Rank: 2/334
AP: Language and Comp (5), Chemistry (5), US History (5)
Senior Year Course: AP Econ, AP Spanish, AP Calc, AP Psychology, AP Literature and Composition, AP Environmental Science, Honors Accounting (for business requirement), Gym

Extracurriculars:
Field Corps (Leadership), Drama Club (Leadership), History Club/National History Day (leadership + qualified for National History Day twice), Science Olympiad, Science Club (Leadership)
Volunteer/Community Service: Independent service project interviewing veterans, some other random stuff, mentoring for family friend, definitely not enough.
Work Experience: 2 summers camp counselor, office assistant in billing department.
Teacher Rec: Does this really matter? I hope my teachers said something good.
Counselor Rec: My counselor is not that bright–I have good reason to suspect that she sent out half my letter of recommendation and half my sister’s. Her letter was very overbearing I thought, sounded too much in my favor without going into specifics.
Interview: Great

Other:
NJ female, mid-to-high income bracket, applicant for financial aid, no hooks.

Strengths: GPA, SAT, great “Why Northwestern”
Weaknesses: Essay, ECs, having an identical twin with lower stats who also applied.
Other schools: Accepted to Rutgers (Full Ride!), TCNJ, University of Maryland, Fordham, College of William and Mary (Just have to say I love it there at W&M, I think I would have gone there anyway.) Waiting on Penn, Brown, Tufts, and Columbia.

Comments: Eh, I thought my Why Northwestern was really good, but I guess it wasn’t good enough. I might just be upset, but I think having a twin applying really affected my application negatively–by seeing her extracurricular successes where I wasn’t as strong, and them seeing my academic success where she wasn’t quite as strong, it made both of us look like we didn’t live up to a potential. I’ve already got some great choices, and no matter what happens next week, it’s going to be okay. Congrats to all who got in!

Decision: Accepted (Weinberg)

Objective:[ul]

[] Extracurriculars: National Honor Society, German Club, School Newspaper, Debate Team, Piano lessons for six years
[] Job/Work Experience: none
[] Volunteer/Community service: worked at public library
[] Summer Activities: took government sponsored Mandarin immersion program at Gonzaga U (equiv to GU’s Mandarin 101), took U of Oregon’s first-year Chinese set (101-103)
[] Essays: My Common App essay was pretty strong, but kind of sentimental. My supplement essay was rushed, done the night of the deadline, but not too bad. I wrote about how NU’s various cross-interest programs would help me pursue all my passions. Emphasized love of MMSS.
[] Teacher Recommendation: My AP English teacher’s was awesome, talking about how much I’d grown with her since sophomore year. I didn’t see my AP Calc teacher’s, but I think it’s pretty good.
[] Counselor Rec: No idea, probably okay.
[] Interview: Didn’t have one

[] Income Bracket: 150K
[] Hooks: none

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Scores, grades, maybe Common App essay
[] Weaknesses: ECs, supplemental essays, lack of awards
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m guess my scores and GPA, and my essays were probably pretty good.
[] What other schools have you been accepted to/plan on going? Accepted to Smith, University of Washington and U Chicago. Waiting on Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Reed.
[/ul]
General Comments: Wow, I can hardly believe it! I really hope that NU has a good FA package, because that’ll decide if I can actually attend. Now I’m just waiting on MMSS – I applied late, so I’m really nervous about it.

Other than that, psyched to have gotten in. Congrats to everyone!
