NOT a chance thread- CC's "Stats Eval"

College Counseling Services

what do people think about their "stats eval" service

from the site:

Stats Eval: Can you get in? What are your chances at your target colleges and universities? College Karma helps you choose schools wisely by evaluating your stats (GPA, class rank, test scores, etc.), extracurricular accomplishments, and writing ability (remember: essays are a crucial part of competitive-college applications). Just fill out the simple Stats Evaluation form and paste in your writing sample. You will receive by return e-mail a fast, accurate, and professional estimate of your level of admissions competitiveness and suggestions on how to be more competitive, and the names of additional schools to consider. As part of your Stats Evaluation, you'll also receive a follow-up response to any questions you have. View a sample Stats Eval. All Stats Evals are performed by a College Karma counseling expert - NOT a computer!

$150 seems pretty pricey tho...

no deal .

@smilemyonly: huh?

anyone else have any comments?

Sounds like a scam, sorry. And a really big scam, at that. Don’t waste $150 on it. You can get the same sort of stats evaluation on here, and probably with the same amount of accuracy. Lol. Also, you could look up some schools that might fit you on the internet. For example, Collegeboard.com will give you a lot of hard statistics (median SAT range, # of students, etc.).

I’m surprised that so few ppl have posted. I’ve never tried the service so I can’t say anything definitively, but it is by the same ppl behind CC so I hesitate to just write it off as a scam, but the guaranteed admission to ivies is definitely suspicous. I read in a book that some dude pretended to have an “in” w/ the brown adcoms and charged like $5000 to get in, if you don’t get in, you get 100% of your money back. he basically just sat back and collected money from ppl who got into brown on their own merits.
