Not a chance thread: PLEASE Suggest me a school to apply early to. No, I'm serious!

I know the first reaction, you Should only apply early to a school you'll truly be happy at. No! Being an International, I have NO way of visiting schools and seeing which is a better fit. Having born the brunt of selection yester-year and failing to get into a single school, this is my profile as it should look after a gap year. I am, of course, applying for the class of 2013.

Suggest me a good school to apply early to. I want it to be as, ahem, good as possible, giving a significant amount in aid to intls, and one that I will have a realistic chance at getting in without it being too easy (something like WUSTL, but it wait listed and then booted me last year, so...)

This is how my profile looks like. I am an international from Pakistan. You know the drill, see it, and suggest a match/reach school to apply early to. Believe me, I can be happy everywhere :D

STATS PROFILE AFTER GAP YEAR

-> I will compile a list of a few books that I read in the gap year that I really liked. And probably devote an essay to them.

Thanks a lot for reading this. Now please select a school for me.

Wow.. Umm.. A local community college might be good =</p>

I presume you will need financial aid–and I presume that your GPA scores are up from last year.

Based upon this, I would apply EA to Brown or Penn (probably Brown). Also, reapplying to WUSL again might make sense if the application has changed significantly enough.

Lastly, consider Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Two suggestions? :(

I thought this’d be easier than chancing.

Its hard when we don’t know what kind of college or university you would prefer.

You might have more luck in the College Search & Selection forum. People tend to avoid Chances.

As an international needing FA, your safe ED options are extremely limited. Look at top schools that are both need-blind and meets-full-need for intl’s, then research them and pick one that you like best (and that has ED, obviously). Schools like WUSTL are more reasonable high matches, but it will be difficult to get in as an international and if your aid package is unaffordable, you’re screwed.

@ amciw: id just like a place that has a good reputation, and an excellent education eg. Dartmouth. It is one of the few places need blind for intls, although i have doubts that it might be too good for me to make it.

iono much about ivy league schools, are u shooting for those types of schools? u can try california schools =) go uc berkeley =) but i guess im biased =p but then again uc berkeley is the best public university in the world
