Beginning on Monday (2/1) admissions decisions were sent out. It is now Wednesday (2/3). What does it mean if I didn't hear anything back yet? I am pretty nervous because many of my friends have been accepted already.

Really? I thought all UCs send out acceptances sometime from mid to late March.

lol at this thread’s title fake1009. My sister hasn’t gotten a notice yet either. From who’s gotten admitted from her school it sure sounds as if they’re starting at the top of the stats list for sending out acceptance notices.

I thought only UCR’s notification date was early: February 1st. [UCR should have said that they would BEGIN to notify on February 1st. Some were notified on the 1st, others yesterday and some today so evidently the process is ongoing as we speak. I had my heart on February 1st and have not heard yet.] All other UC’s said March, including Irvine (some said “Early March,” some said “March 15th,” and some said “late March”) so I was very surprised to see that some CC people are starting to hear from UCI. And I might be very wrong but from the posts I’ve read, it seems like the highest achievers are being notified the earliest…

Go here to check:

if youre being considered, does it mean you are most likely not going to get accepted?

The data from what I gathered from my school and from my pool of close friends:

3 were accepted yesterday/today: They tended to have little to no extracurricular activities, high GPA’s, high test scores, about 4-6 AP classes in HS, and moderate to good essays.

3 whose application is “still being reviewed” (including me). Moderate to high amount of extracurricular activities, 4-6 AP classes in HS, moderate to good essays, moderate GPA (a little below 4.0 weighted), and moderate test scores.

From just my friends, it seems that UCI is sending out acceptances simply for those with the strong academic capabilities.

I think we’re reading too much into this. While I know that a couple of very qualified people from my school got accepted, I also know that there are people with lower stats and a fewer amount of extracurriculars than myself and many of my peers who also got accepted. So perhaps it was all just at random?

Trying to find patterns will do us no good.

A couple of qualified students accepted, as well as some middle-of-the road students. Most with stats lower than me.

I know one person who got a rejection. I’m still waiting.

maybe they’re working their way in from the endpoints. Easier decision acceptances and rejections sent early while they’re still deciding on the middle.

Late response does not mean rejection. Do not worry. I know from personal experience.

So it’s completely random?

eeeeh all this makes me really nervous ToT !
my best friend got accepted today… she had a 4.2 UC gpa & 2200 SAT score with like almost 10 AP classes makes me feel like an idiot eeehhh…
well good luck to all of us who are still waiting >__< !!!

UC Irvine sent out rejections already? Argh. I am so anxious right now. I know that I am crazy checking my email every 10 minutes but the waiting is killing me. And March hasn’t come yet.

March is the most important month for me this year!!

Can I just ask, will out of state applicants be notified after the in states are notified or will they be notified at the same time??

For my year last year (CO 2009), UCI released admissions on a rolling basis. What this meant was that while they released admissions early in the month, they continued to release it at intervals until the end of the month. What I also noticed was that when your admissions decision was released wasn’t an indicator of your admissions itself; people were rejected early in the month just as people were admitted later in the month.

If you haven’t received your admissions yet, don’t fret about being rejected; it just means they haven’t gotten to your app yet.

Hope this helps :)

thanks for the info!

thanks for your information. I guess the “data” I collected from my friends was just a coincidence. Anyway I am still waiting for my acceptance…

Yes. the info is correct. they send out the acceptance/rejection letters in “waves”.

how many days usually does does it take for the next “wave” of rejections/acceptances to come? im totally freaking
