My son submitted his application on November 1st. He applied to Rutgers Sebs and arts and sciences. His total sat score is 1630 and a weighted gpa of 3.81.
Involved in tennis, marching band, helped asst teaching at religious school and key club and national honor society. And a few other extra activities...
He is getting discouraged that hasn't heard from Rutgers yet or the other six schools he applied to. I thought maybe his sat score is bringing him down but other kids with lower gpas are getting in....he is getting anxious..HELP!

As long as you are a New Jersey resident, there’s nothing to worry about. I know that SAS isn’t very selective, odds are that they’re waiting to see the applicant pool a bit before they let him in. Also it could be a possibility that the sat scores didn’t arrive yet, or maybe he didn’t fill out Rutger’s special online transcript thing(don’t remember what it’s called), so try and double check everything. Try not to worry too much about it, I’d be surprised if he didn’t get in.

They got all his info already. Even his college credits he took in his junior year. He is getting upset since he now is finding out his friends are getting accepted and they did not have the grades he does. Thanks for your words of encouragement.

His credentials are sound - he will be fine with acceptances - the waiting is so difficult! Admissions move through applications at varying rates - be patient and share your good news when it arrives! I am still waiting also - Quinnipiac is my top choice - I look everyday on line and in the mailbox!!!

He will get in so I would not worry if I were you. Please remember that we were hit with Sandy so it might take them a little longer to accept students with similar credentials this yer. If it makes you feel any better, my nephew applied with similar stats on Nov 6th and he has not heard yet. szimmy is right, they are waiting to see the applicant pool before they accept him. His GPA is great so I think he has a pretty good chance of getting in.

His friends are getting in maybe bc they got higher SAT scores or they aplied to different schools.

Be patient and everything will work out. We all have been through it and we know it is not easy but everything will be fine at the end. Good luck!!

Thanks for the encouraging words. The waiting is the hardest part.
