<p>Unless you can demonstrate a financial hardship, I think you have to. Of course, they won’t take you to court, (I’m not sure it’s legally binding?) but your lack of ethics may hurt you with your other acceptances, if they find out about it. </p>

<p>Many GCs would refuse help you with your RD applications, and if they have been sent, GCs may notify your RD schools that you have been accepted ED. Except for affordability issue, you are obligated to attend the ED school. Many GCs are concerned about protecting theirs and school’s reputation with adcoms. A high school could be blacklisted if their students do not follow ED rules.</p>
<p>Unless you have a very good reason (like insufficient financial aid), if you renege on your ED agreement, you run the risk of having your other acceptances rescinded.</p>
