NOT an average "OMG Chances" Thread.

This is a bit of a long topic, so bear with me. I'ts just a list of my prospective classes and activities for HS, so I can get info on, not as much chances, as much as advice on the best decisions to make. (By the way, my guidance counselor is the type who won't let you know of summer reading when you move to the school, leaving you in the dust on Day 1).

I'm a HS sophomore, aiming for Stanford and UC Berkeley.

I took the SATs in 8th grade in a Johns Hopkins University Talent Search program. Score? 1040.
-I took the Biology SAT2 in 8th grade. Score? 620.

Then I move to a school district with less kids, and class options.

So, as a sophomore, my plans are to take in the rest of my high school career, for AP tests (tests, not classes necessarily, as they are not specifically all called AP at this school, they are called "college level"):
-Calculus AB
-English
-World History
-(possibly...) American History

And for SATIIs (keeping in mind I did Biology already):
-Math Lvl. 2
-History

And extracurriculars (these are seriously ALL my options in this town/school):
-NHS
-Hospital Volunteering
-County Paper Volunteering

Extra Info:

I'm planning on only stopping language (Spanish) for senior, and taking all main subjects at the highest level, througout. Which leaves me with a few questions I hope some more experienced people could answer.

Is this a solid loking transcript (as far as the workload/classes look, not grades since its prospective)?
Do younhave any tips/advice that you came across as far as making a solid HS transcript

If you are aming for Stanford, your SAT-IIs should be well in 700s.

You have to do something pretty outstanding with these type of ECs to get noticed.

it all depends on your situation...
you will be compared against what your school has to offer, so you need to be near the top of your class academically. are you taking a lot of APs compared to others, or just a mid-range amount? you should also, you know, get As (haha)
if you really but time and effort into your ecs as well and you work very hard in academics, etc. you certainly have a chance at stanford, so go ahead and try. maybe you'll get in, maybe you won't. but i think you definitely have the potential to be a possible admit. also, make sure to have fun and not think about college for another year at least! :) certainly you should work hard, but don't look at college books or admissions anything for a while. A lot will depend on your background and how you present yourself, so if you do live in a small town with very limited opportunities, make the most of what you've got and make sure the admissions officers know that you did.

honestly, the best advice i can give is to log off CC and not come back for at least a year and a half, if not two years. CC is a great resource for finding out about schools and having people to obsess/commiserate with, but the whole chances thing is really not all its cracked up to be, so don't focus on that...good luck!

My advice is to take Spanish for all four years unless it's not offered beyond the level you will take Junior year. Retake the SATs including SATII Bio. You'll be much better at it later, and scores from 8th grade aren't very credible.

Other than that, like the poster above says, don't freak out about college until summer after Junior year. Most likely your school preference will change: I spent all of high school aiming for the Ivy Leagues or prestigious LACs then discovered I want to go to a big state school isntead. Go figure.
