not another UCLA thread

well sorta is.

REALLY quick question!

(when transferring from a Cali Community College)...

if having TAP help a person get into UCLA, does not being a part of that give me a disadvantage or make it harder to get in without TAP?

haha yeah.. the amount of these UC-x and UC-xx threads are starting to get crazy -_-

no, i got into ucla w/ out tap

I got into UCLA without tap as well. I have seen two rejected already with tap. Also alot of people got into UCLA without tap. So yeah!! Non-tappers.

i know i have asked this question many times, but wuts TAP?

The UCLA Transfer Alliance Program

The UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) gives you the opportunity to enhance your ability to transfer to UCLA at the junior level from a California community college. Students are certified after completing the honors/scholars program at their community college and given priority consideration for admission to UCLA College of Letters and Science.

To view all criteria for transfer selection, and for additional information about the programs of study available, please review the following:

* Transfer Admission Guide (TAG)
* Majors offered by the College
* Minors offered at UCLA

Some benefits of TAP are:

*

UCLA and California Community Colleges cooperate to assist students in the transfer process.
*

The TAP Community Colleges offer enriched academic programs and all courses necessary to transfer, including General Education requirements and preparatory courses for majors.
*

Designated faculty and counselors at the community colleges help students plan academic programs that meet major and general education requirements and honors/scholars certification.
*

While students are in the community college TAP programs, meaningful linkages with UCLA are provided such as on-campus informational meetings and tours, library privileges, and opportunities to attend selected UCLA cultural and athletic events.

Did you guys see the part that I highlighted? So, does that mean all of the engineering and science majors will not benefit at all from TAP, even if they manage to do it?

I got into UCLA in the College of L&S without Tap.

Yeah, TAP isn't really geared for science/EE. Most counselors will say that doing TAP if you're science or EE is a waste of time, because it won't have any weight in admissions and bc it will take away from time that they could finish their pre-reqs/lower divs.

To the original poster- TAP does NOT get people into UCLA. It just adds an extra point (more weight) to their application. But there is absolutely no guarentee.

oh alright thanks allie (and everyone else)

I got in without tap too... you should not worry too much...

Got in without TAP(POL S major)

Got in without tap

i didn't do TAP nor was I in a single honors classes.....I think GPA is what counts the most and pre-reqs

edit: "given priority consideration for admission to UCLA College of Letters and Science."

ah so that's wat it was...unless you are in letters and science TAP is pretty much worthless....I wish my engineering friend knew that lol

lol, i see. thats good to hear. i'm interested in international development....or political science so we'll see...i just wanna make sure i can call UCLA my backup, without worrying about tap, and apparently so.
