Not attending this semester, already signed MPN

I had problems with my transfer that couldn't get resolved in time to attend college this semester, but I had already signed my MPN for this year. I forgot about it until now, when I got an email saying that my disclosure statement was available to view.

I don't know what I should do, is is ok for this to happen and since I'm not registered and the funds will just be sent back, or do I need to contact someone to 'cancel' it? If so, who am I supposed to contact?

I don't want something to get messed up and have them say that I owe this money even though I'm not getting it.

What is MPN?

Master Promissory Note.

Did you officially defer or withdraw from any classes you may have been registered for? I would at least the FA folks at the school…they shouldn’t, and likely won’t, certify loans unless you’re actually registered but make sure they know that you’re not in attendance and will cancel your loans and other aid.

The loans should not be disbursed if you are not attending school. Have you gone and looked at the disclosure statement to ensure they have not been disbursed?

Also, as sk8rmom said, were you enrolled in any classes and, if so, did you make sure to withdraw officially from them? (It doesn’t sound from your post as if you were enrolled, but I know at our schools students are enrolled well before classes start and would have to officially withdraw from the classes or they would have had to pay for them).
