How is everyone handling not getting to go to your dream school (congrats to those who can)? Whether it was because you didn’t get in, financial reasons or anything else. I got in but I can’t afford it and now I can’t seem to get excited about anywhere else even though they’re great schools, any tips?
How long ago was this made clear to you? I’m asking because I went through this about a month ago and now I’m really excited about the college that I can afford to go to. In my experience you just need to give yourself time to grieve; you don’t get to go to the college you wanted and that sucks. But there are other great options. And the more time you give it, the more you’ll see that and the happier you’ll be. Just try to think about the college you can’t go to as little as possible, and if you focus on planning for the college that’s more realistic, before long you’ll see yourself getting really excited to go there, and then soon you’ll think of that place as your school and the other places won’t matter to you nearly as much as they once did.
I hope that’s helpful; I’ve been through the same thing so feel free to PM me if you want to talk
Not getting into my dream school was the best thing that could have happened to me! It made me take a close look at the school I’m now certain is a perfect fit.
I found out about a week ago. Both of you were very helpful and I feel a lot better now, thank you so much!
