Well, I’ll try not to be too bitter :P

I’m actually really devastated by this as I really wanted to go to BU

3.5 UW GPA
4.13 W GPA

quite a few AP/IB classes

2200 SAT
690 Math
710 Writing
800 CR

I think my essays were pretty creative.
No amazing EC’s but they were decent.

I’m assuming I had decent to good teacher recs.

Hey, I was waitlisted as well. Your numbers are higher than mine, but my EC’s, essays, and recs were probably what did not get me rejected. I e-mailed them asking for a little more insight into the waitlisting process (just because I was frustrated).

I feel kind of the same way, I just recently got accepted into Lehigh, NYU, Villanova, GWU, and Rutgers Pharmacy school, yet I was placed on BU’s waitlist.

My stats are a 3.9 W and 3.5 UW gpa

2280 SAT 780 writing 760 math 740 cr

I’m not too upset considering that BU wasn’t one of my top choices, but I will admit that I was surprised by getting waitlisted. It could possibly be that BU required its applicants to list what other colleges they are applying to, and maybe if the applicant had a long list or didn’t seem likely to attend they were just placed on the waitlist. Still happy with my choices regardless, good luck!

astronaut, this is so weird. i was recently waitlisted at nova and denied from GWU, yet i got into BU and you were waitlisted? it doesn’t seem like you’re very upset, but i just want to say don’t be! you’re into some amazing schools!

college admissions don’t make much sense!

Honestly, my SATs are lower than yours and my app wasnt that great either because I was aiming for the Med-program more, but I got accepted. I dont think any of this makes sense. half of our school was rejected from Rice, even the best kids ;/

I think its passion (how much you care about that particular school and willingness to attend). But dont lose hope guys. Im pretty sure you guys will get in since a lot of ppl apply to BU but end up picking a more prestigious school than BU (Ivy’s, etc.)

well most schools like a high yield so maybe, MAYBE, they thought you were too good, and would have ended up somewhere else anyways.

Your grades are better than mine. I got an 1850 (both sittings)/1900 (super score). I don’t have a GPA, but I’m pretty sure it’d be lower than 3.5. I didn’t write an essay for BU. I simply clicked ‘Topic of your Choice’ on my CommonApp and submitted my USC essay.

I know it sounds completely ridiculous, but I think nathalia’s right. You probably got waitlisted because they thought you were too good. If they didn’t like you, they would’ve just rejected you, right? I honestly don’t bring much to the table, yet I got accepted into the engineering school, which tends to be more selective.

Oh, and if it’s of any interest to you, I got accepted into Villanova and rejected from NYU. Also, on the application, I only listed NYU and USC as the other schools that I applied to, even though I applied to 13. That’s probably why nathalia’s right - they were pretty sure I was going to attend BU.

My suggestion is that you should totally appeal.
