Not chances, but safeties?

I'm normally against the whole "I'm perfect, and I know you aren't admissions counselors but could you please boost my ego and/or tell me if I can get in to these top schools in the country?" sort of posts.

But this isn't one of those. I'm not asking to be chanced, nor am I asking about Ivys/Top tiers. Rather, because I know at that level (which contains about 95% of where I'm applying) the chances for anyone are pretty slim, I'd like some suggestions for safeties because I feel like I do not have enough (I want like 2-4) in case I don't end up getting into my top choices.

What I'm looking for: Small-ish (anywhere from 300- about 3000 undergrads per grades), urban or suburban (but needs to have an actual "campus-y" campus, not like NYU which is all over the city), Liberal Arts is great, must have either a program in business/international relations/both or at least classes that pertain to those, preferably in the NorthEast but not necessary.

**Stats:/b:

SATI: 2330 - 740 CR, 790 M, 800 W
SAT II: Bio 680, Chem 630 (both taken before we found out I have some learning disabilities, so now that I'm more prepared, I'll be taking MathII, US History, and Lit next month and hopefully will get 700+)
APs: Euro, APUSH, Writing
APs next year: Lit, Comparative Gov, Latin, Spanish, Calc BC, Bio
GPA: when this year ends (official cutoff for GPAs at my school) ~4.85 W, 3.99 UW

So far, Binghamton is my only safety (I'm from NY and they also focus mainly on grades.)
My guidance counselor said Haverford is a safety (omg I love that school), but I'm more inclined to think it's a match because it's really good school. But that's all I've got so far, and I don't want to take any chance.

Any suggestions at all would be really appreciated, because I can't seem to think of any I'd like that aren't SUNYs in the middle of nowhere with freezing cold weather 90% of the year...

Fordham University

Macaulay Honors program at one of the CUNY schools

Thanks (:

My friend’s dad actually works at Fordham and she’s most likely gonna go there (free tuition! what’s better?! lol). So that’s a great suggestion.

I’ve vaguely heard of Macaulay but never looked into it. I’ll be sure to check it out.

Smith College - all girls school.

I don’t know about all girls. I think I’d prefer a coed school. I don’t think there’s anything wrong if people like single-sex, but after 13 years of public school, I don’t think I’d be able to go to an all girls school.

bump, because no one in my town knows what the word “safety” means and everyone keeps suggesting top tier schools…

U of Rochester, UNC-Chapel hill, UTexas Austin; I have those on my mind as my safeties. You should consider those.

I’ll look at those. Thanks (:

fyi UNC has about 20k students and UT-austin has around 40k. also, unc can be a crapshoot for out of state admissions. have you looked at Villanova? also, you say liberal arts is nice, but just as a warning, all liberal arts only schools don’t have any business curriculum (econ is the closest thing)

case western, american university, brandeis

@ArKhAiK thanks for the info. I didn’t know that. And I don’t need even a program for business. Even just a few classes based on business are ok for my safeties. And I know a bunch of my friends are checking out Villanova, so maybe I’ll go with whoever goes next time. Thanks (:

@Viciousdirt My best friend’s sister goes to American. She’s graduating this month and loved it. I’ve heard of Brandeis but not Case Western. I’ll take a look at them all. Thanks (:

You should consider GWU, BU, and Northeastern. They’re privates ranked decently higher than SUNY schools that give good merit scholarships.

Holy Cross, Bucknell.

@CalvinTBOD Thanks for the suggestions. My sis was really into Northeastern and got a great scholarship there before ultimately choosing Syracuse. I never thought BU and GW would be safeties, though. Aren’t they pretty good?

@par72 Is Holy Cross religious? I’m technically Jewish, but personally Athiest, so I don’t know if I’d apply there if it is, in fact, religious. I’ll take a look at Bucknell, thanks (:

Not sure if I’d consider it a safety or not, but Babson College has an outstanding business program(not to mention the benefit of one cross-registration per semester as Wellesley and your scores are WELL above average for them. It is only a 30% accept rate, (similar to Rochester in selectivity I’d say) , but I’d have to think you are about 90% chance.

@lukebbuff Oh sounds promising (: I’ll definitely check it out!
