Ok, so I was just wondering. Lets say you're taking 4/5 AP classes but you dont get the 4 or 5 you really wanted. I heard that colleges dont look at AP scores except for placement purposes, which would probably mean after you were accepted. Is this true? And if not, what do colleges conclude when they see that you really didnt do as good on lets say, your AB Calc test and got a 3 or 2. Same with any other AP's. What would you do in this case? I'm a hopeful future ivy leaguer, and have a rather high GPA and am a Cum Laude inductee (top 10% of junior class- 1/8 people), with pretty good recommendations. The only problem I have is not doing well on AP tests. I have never been the one to do well on standardized testing anyway, and my only fear is that colleges will turn me down because of my AP scores. Any advice?

(if this thread needs to be moved, feel free to move it...I just figured this would be a pretty good spot in reference to the AP tests)

well, I feel that most colleges will look at you and your grades suspiciouly if your standardized scores aren't top notch as your grades...

consider this scenario:
person A has a 4.0/4.0 unweighted GPA, rank 1 / 1000, and taken about 15 AP's by the end of junor year...appears to be a pretty smart person, but now say he gets 3's and 2's in all his AP test. Collges like Penn, or Princeton, or HPYMS will probably loose a little biut of respect for his AP classes and school's method of grading...they will assume that all classes at his school are "el joko" and teachers just "give" grades...

I know this is kinda of extreme, but ivy's, mit, stanford, and caltech are all crapshoot to begin with..so you want to put your best foot forward, and give them no reason to reject you, try to get a 4 or 5...try your best; I personally hate standardized test too, but I had to change

if you need help with calc ab, just let me know, I'll try to help you out (i'm in bc, and all my friends in class, and my bc teacher think I'm going to pwn the test so...lol), as best as I can :)
