Not enough extracurriculars...

During my freshmen and sophomore year, I participated in very little outside of school. Though I have a good explanation for this, is it too late for me if I start this year? (assuming I'm aiming for an Ivy League). Can an extra effort in my junior year make up for this?

they look for commitment, so no.

It can't hurt. It's better to look like you made an effort in your junior and senior years than to look like you just didn't care. Especially if there's a good reason why you didn't participate earlier.

I agree, I think that if you start making an effort to become more involved, etc., they will notice this. However, your reason for not becoming involved earlier should probably be a good one.
