<p>As a parent, I’m glad the FA office won’t “discuss” an applicant family’s finances via email. And as Cygne’s post indicated, if you make an appointment, the FA officer will have you file in front of him/her and review it during the phone session - - instead of just getting a generic response from whom ever picks up the phone (or who ever is available at that moment).</p>
<p>momwaiting…one person is going to Suffolk she was offered a full ride the other to Simmons college. Not sure if she got a full ride to Simmons…They don’t care about prestige or rankings I guess, just the cost.</p>
<p>Songman, once you get out of the rarified atmosphere of top universities/LACs, you see more merit aid. Smith is unusual among top LACs that it offers merit awards in addition to need-based ones.</p>
<p>Cost is certainly a prudent consideration but “just the cost” is just as misguided a criterion as “prestige or rankings.” You’re buying an education, not a case of motor oil.</p>
