Not enough hard courses?

Hey everyone,
If in my sophomore year I only took one honors class(freshman year honors courses were not available), but in my junior year I took 3 APs and 3 honors classes, and I’m going to take more in my senior year, will my sophomore year mess me up because I only took 1 honors course?

Depends on the context of your high school. If they offered you up to 5 honors courses and you only took 1, maybe not the best thing. If they only offered 2 and you took 1, much more ok.

Depends on what your school offers and on what the AP classes are.
So, can you be precise and list what you took last year, this year, plan to take next year?

If you’re trying to get into an extremely competitive school, 3 APs as a Junior does not seem like enough. You might want to self study for one of the easier AP tests, like economics or music theory, or take a class during the summer.

1° Music Theory is one of the hardest APs - even experienced musicians find it tough
2° Colleges don’t care about students self studying AP’s. They want you using your free time in other things than studying. As for AP’s, if you have 6-8 total you’re good.
(An exception is if you attend a school that doesn’t offer any AP/DE/PSEO/IB/AICE class).
