Due to transferring to a school in a different country (with a different school system; I go to an international school), I won
t have enough PE credits to graduate (well, one credit to be exact). My school is willing to waive the PE credit for graduation (I
ll have all the other necessary credits, like 4 years of English, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.) However, I have heard that a recent graduate from my school was forced to take Art classes at a local high school after entering college, because his art credit was waived while in HS.
Do you think this will be a problem for me? I can try to take a PE class at my school, but since I` m doing the IB diploma this year, the school decided to waive the credit for me.
Any opinions? Should I just let my school waive the credit, or should I try to just take the class nevertheless?

You need to talk to your GC and to the adcoms at schools you're considering. Presumably the requirement would only apply to in-state public colleges. Others wouldn't care as long as you got a h.s. diploma.

I wouldn't be surprised if the story about the Art class was only a rumor. That doesn't sound like the way that things work. I would talk to your GC and bring up the story about how a college forced someone to take a class at a local high school even after they already had graduated from high school.

If you're stateside, just try to take PE in summer school or at a community college, but as Northstarmom said, verify with your GC or check with admissions staff at the colleges you plan to apply to.

Our opinions/recommendations really don't mean squat!
