<p>Alright, I was looking at the Stanford app in particular, and they only want 6 extracurriculars. Not only, but they allow about 30 characters to explain each one (so i hear) - how are you supposed to explain everything in 30 characters? They also won't allow you to send a resume sheet or additional materials, so what are you supposed to do?</p>

<p>Same thing happened to me for UC's app. I picked the six that impacted me the most and that I liked best, and either summarized what the organization was about (if it was an obscure one) or what my leadership positions were.</p>
<p>30 characters though? A paper app gives a little more space but I don't really want to fill all of it out by hand.. 30 characters is like nothing..</p>
<p>Yeah for common app I basically had to summarize everything, especially for student council, I had:
Sr. Class Treas./SC Treas.
and that barely squeezed in, so I know how hard it is but you just have to get creative with your statements and abbreviate like crazy.</p>
