By the time we apply for college this fall, AP scores from this year would have come out already. My problem is as follows: according to Common App preview on their website, as well as the mailed Common App from Harvard in one of those mass-mailed ads, there's only 8 spaces for AP and SAT II scores.

Couple of questions: Is SAT II scores more important and should be given priority for the spaces? I have 800/800/800/770 (World, Math II, Chinese, and Bio E accordingly), and right now I have 5/5/5 (World, Bio, Calc BC). This year I've taken Stats, Compsci, Chinese, and USH and scores for those are still pending, but I'm pretty confident about USH, Chinese, and Stats. Assuming I do well enough on those, would I just include all of SAT IIs and the 4 most "important" or "rigorous/well respected" AP exams that I got 5s on?

Surely I'm not the only one with this problem, considering the caliber of most students on CC. What are your thoughts on this?

Wait are they seriously combining SAT II and AP scores? That’s a terrible idea!!

By the time I finish junior year, I’ll have 8 AP scores already, not including the three SAT IIs I’ve taken.

EDIT: If you submit the Common App online, I believe they have an option to add more scores. More incentive to use the online application as opposed to the written one, I would say.

I believe you also have the option to attach an extra resume for scores.

SAT II’s are weighted much more heavily than AP’s.

Oh, I’ll just do it online, then. Thanks!

SAT II’s are weight more than APs? Why?

Second n0vad3m0n’s question: are they now combining the two sections? Because before, there were separate sections for the SATIIs and the APs.

Strictly speaking, the SATIIs are definitely more important than the APs. In fact, technically, the APs are not even directly used in the admission process, as many school districts have limited AP offerings and it would not be completely fair to judge students based on the number of AP scores alone, as many applicants do not and cannot take the classes. The SATIIs are what’s required for admission purposes at the more selective schools, though of course, since so many students take AP classes now, colleges do pay attention to AP scores, so it’s great to list them if you did well.

Like Luminouzz said, you can attach a document containing extra AP scores in the additional information section if you so wish.

Though SAT II scores seem to be weighted more, how do you think I should allot the spaces if my SAT II scores (620, 720, 790) are significantly weaker than my AP scores (5’s)?
Would it be better or worse to put down 7 AP scores with 5’s and only a single SAT II score?

I know many people say they merely glance at the AP scores, but it seems like it would be hard for an adcom just to ignore your scores. The difference between 5+ golden 5’s and 3’s and 4’s is huge.
Also, AP scores accurately (to a certain degree) measure how much you actually learned and studied for in your AP class, which is probably the main thing adcoms look for: how well can you handle college-level classes? SO AP scores are probably more important than most people say they are.
