On the eve of my first college final exams I am on cc, not unusual, trying to figure out what to do next with my college career. I am not happy with my small Chicago school. It has a large commuter population and I don't believe that this school will give me the best education I can get. Regardless of the reasons, however, I still want to transfer. Due to scholarship I can't transfer until Fall 2009. My stats are as follows..... H.S. 3.0 UW (High did not weight grades) ACT in the mid 20's (26) (only took it once). Decent EC's, Sports tons and tons of music. Current University- Realistically a 3.0 (took some tough classes) by time of transfer I will have 30 or so hours. Obviously I am not looking at HYP nor do I wish to attend this type of university. I am by no means a slacker (kinda ironic seeing as how I have finals tomorrow and I'm on here but whatever) but I do not wish to attend a university where the entire university revolves around a study schedule. What I am looking for is a larger university that has OOS tuition below $17,000; I live in Illinois. I am a sports fanatic! I would love to go to a school that has D1 sports. Not to play, but to enjoy. I am interested in Business or Journalism (I am leaning towards the latter. I got a perfect score on ACT writing so I feel that would be a smart choice.) If you guys have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Univ Illinois in Urbana? Big party school, great sports. Same with Ohio State, maybe Indiana?

Oregon sound like a match.

Thank you very much for your responses.
tangies- I would like to go to U of I but I dont know if I have the stats to get in there. Ohio State could be an option though. I would have to imagine Indiana raises their admission standards for Business, is that true?
hmom- Thank you, I will look further into Oregon as I am not too familiar with the school. It would be great to be a Duck! :)

If you don’t mind going South, take a look at U South Carolina. Their Journalism and Business programs are well-respected and it would be pretty easy to transfer in. I do think you have to wait to apply for the Journalism school till your junior year (? I could be making this up, so check on my facts) and you do have to have a certain GPA to get in. They are huge on school spirit, tailgating, football, etc. They also like their basketball team a lot.

I just checked:
OOS Tuition & Technology fees: $22,908 (a little higher than what you’re looking for though)
Minimum GPA to transfer into university: 2.25
GPA needed for Journalism School: 2.5
GPA needed for Business School: 3.0

I would love to go to school in low country! I would actually prefer waiting to make any decisions about major until I know exactly what I want to do. The money is a problem though, I don’t want a huge debt when I’m done with school. I do not qualify for any kind of financial aid. Thank you very much. It would be great to be a **** as well
Ha ha sorry I guess I should have said the full name, Gamecock :)

bump bump bump
