Not Forgetting the Bigger Picture

As I sit here on the evening before our local private school decisions I want to thank @thacherparent for posting this. I had exactly this conversation with our daughter tonight that win, lose or waitlist we are proud of her. It’s ok to be disappointed if she doesn’t get the acceptances she’s hoping for, or to be a little jealous if a classmate with eerily similar stats gets in instead. She’s a great kid, and she’ll do great next year no matter where she ends up.

And then we get to go through this all over again in 2 1/2 weeks!

Just before I graduated from HS, a friend’s dad a WWII vet) told me, “Some of the life events that seem to be the worst turn out for the best - and vice-versa.” And the decades that have passed have proven him correct.
