Not from CA...

I am from Virginia and I applied to Berkeley and UCLA..

For Berkeley I got the questionaire forms sent to me..

I was wondering...how hard is it for an out of state applicant to be admitted to Berkeley in general.

THANKS

not easy .

I think your chances have improved this year though…I did read some article earlier that Berkeley is looking to increase the number of out of state admits, because out of state admits pay more tuition than in state students. Thus, it would make sense for the school to increase out of state enrollments in times of economic hardship such as these. I’m not sure how much this will help you in gaining admission, but you do have money on your side.

thank you guys

If you received a letter it generally means you are on the statistical bubble (either grades and/or test scores). As an Virginian, that ain’t a good place to be, unfortunately. But the fact that they are asking for more info gives you a chance to improve your file.

Good luck.

btw: it’s crazy to pay $46k/year when you have a wonderful school in your own state.

Yeah, I am aware of that. I would definitely go to UVA before Berkeley… What did you mean by Virginia ain’t a good place to be? Does Berkeley get a lot of applicants from VA?

I think he just meant “because you’re OOS.”
