I called the admissions office and talked to my school's college/career counselor. There's no validity in the claim that all acceptees were notified solely on Tuesday night. The admissions office told me that they were going to be sending decisions through Friday and possibly Monday. The reason why they had to send in "waves" is because (and I quote) "The post office will only accept a certain number of bins from us in one day."

Since some of my friends in my region got their acceptances online, I asked her if it was possible for people in the same area to get letters/notification at different times. She told me that it was "entirely possible because the times really have no rhyme or reason."

Like many of you, I was really worried when I had a blank on my "Decision" line at 12:00 A.M. last night. Exacerbated further by people's postings about "waves" and whatnot, I became really really nervous and depressed. It just goes to show that you have to take tentative speculation with a grain of salt. :) Don't give up hope everyone!

I don't really know when they're going to do the "second wave." Perhaps someone could call them and ask if they also sent out letters last Saturday? (Actually I might later..)

Anyway, I guess I'll just keep checking throughout this week. I'll let you know if I hear any news :)

but i still cant understand why they just dont put our decisions online if they are already given. I understand that they cant post all mails at the same time, but putting all decisions online shouldn't be that hard, right?

They want people to find out through the mail. Trust me, it makes me insane to no end, but that's just the way they do it. Their college, their choice on how applicants are notified.

Yeah, why can't our decisions be online all at the same time?! So frustrating.

Anyway, I just called them again and they actually told me when my letter was sent and when I can expect to view my decision online. So if any of you are REALLY nervous, this may be something you will consider doing too :)

I still haven't heard anything from TSB now..But as I know most students like me who only applied for TSB haven't heard anything either..Keep waiting and keep anxious...

They told me they're sending out my letter tommorow..so I should be getting the decision and the mail around Friday.

Perhaps this is a bit cynical, but I know there are people reading this going "Oh Tsukasa_Girl, Friday?! You are so second wave...aka you are so rejected!"

I previously thought that the timing of the letters really determined your decision. But of course, like I learned in Psych, my confirmation bias is making me think otherwise. Perhaps there really is no "method to the madness." :P

And so, I'm not going to give up hope! I'll post my decision up as soon as I get it. (I applied to MCS btw..haven't seen a lot of people get acceptances into that yet o.o)

So although it seems that there ARE a lot of WL/Rejects, there's also SOME acceptances.
Granted, the CC community can't really be a definite indicator of the entire CMU applicant pool, but hopefully this will raise your hopes a little :)

Not getting a decision Tuesday night does NOT mean you're rejected.........but there is a high probability of that happening.

Apologies for the pessimism but I simply cannot ignore last year's trend and the fact that all Wave 1 decisions seem to have at least one acceptance.

Tsukasa_Girl: i want to call admission office too. do you just ask when is your letter sent?
why admitted decisions are on tuesday night? i don't understand the point of it

nobody from my school recieved a decision yet, and i dont think that CMU will reject all the people applying from our school. so 2nd wave can not be all rejections.
