Not getting cast in college.

Just a quick note that there are some BA programs that are absolutely performance track. Some schools opt not to offer BFA.

As others have said, we know of kids who were never cast in college but went on to great professional success after graduation, while some kids have great college success but never find professional work.

NOrthwestern and Fordham both have performance track BAs…and it’s possible to go four years without being cast. I’m pretty sure there are BFA programs out there without guaranteed casting, as well.

My understanding is that in the “real world” if you are getting callbacks but not getting cast, it is perfectly appropriate for your agent to make some careful inquiries on your behalf (according to what I’ve read in Backstage.com). So I think, for your tuition dollars, while you are in school, it makes perfect sense to ask a trusted prof for feedback. There’s no reason while you are in school that you should be wondering why? You should be told. That’s the whole point of school. But it is indeed very true that we’ve had some CC students who never had a named role in school but got great equity jobs right out of the gate. I tend to cling to that bit of CC history, myself! :)
