One of the issues I am stressing over is this idea that if I don’t get into the major I intended to pursue then what? As a transfer student, this is my first semester at UM AA and I transferred into LSA. I am keen on attending the UMSI to pursue a BSI, I have looked into alternatives and other routes and I don’t see options here. I really hope I am admitted into the BSI as I am a junior. Otherwise, its going to be tough to complete my bachelors in a timely manner, If my last option fails. Any one else have similar concerns? I applied with a 3.98 GPA and four internships and an employer rec letter. I used to be a BBA student at my old University… I might go back to doing that I suppose.
I think that is a problem for all kids applying to specific majors/schools that you can’t be pre-admitted to. Even for those who don’t want to apply to a major are still under similar pressure to figure out their options.
As for BSI, there are other majors in LSA that are similar to different aspects of SI such as comm and data science. I would visit an advisor to get more info on your options.
Besides the advisors you might want to contact the administration of your program and / a few professors. Ask the same questions. They, I would think, would have greater insight on other comparable options for you.
Just got word, I am admitted so for now this shouldn’t be an issue!
@akk@uofm… Congratulations!!!
