Does anyone feel that this is a bad thing? I'm not going because I am going on vacation before the Graduation Date. Seniors graduate on June 25th in my school which is really late. I still get my diploma and everythign I'm just not going to be at the ceremony.

Ehh...not really. To me, it's a kind of a waste of time esp if you have 800+ students to wait for...too bad I already bought the cap and gown in a moment of unwarranted sentiment

Commencement is pointless.

My friend is skipping Graduation Night (senior trip), Baccalaureate Mass, and Graduation itself. She's going on vacation to Taiwan. Well, the main purpose is that she's actually taking summer classes, and they start in late May, so she has to leave early.

There are only 160-180 people in my graduating class. And I freaking gave in money for cap and gown. I couldn't care less about graduation though. As long as I "graduate" in terms of receiving a high school diploma and going on to college, I'll be happy. I don't need to walk onto a stage, shake the hands of three random people I have never seen, met or said a single word to in my high school career. All this hard work, and all it takes to "graduate" is to walk onto a stage and take my diploma. I hope I won't regret this though. Graduation is supposed to be a special moment.

~130 people in CO2K6.

But what about the presents!!!!!

how could you not want to walk at graduation...

funny how people make a bigger deal about friggin prom than graduation

citygirlsmom: are u serious? presents? such a joke. why would one get rewarded for graduating high school? i mean isnt that NORMAL to graduate? if ur getting rewared for graduating, thats pretty embarrassing, that shows u have low expectations.

then again...
i wont be getting ANY presents from my greedy parents so i am a little biased :)

bluthunder: couldnt care less about graduation. couldnt care less about prom.

Quite frankly, it's not a big deal. School officially ends for me 2 weeks before that date.

In all honesty, yeah it really doesn't matter if you go, but when you get down to it, I think that you should respect yourself enough for working so hard to graduate to attend your graduation.

Being a small school, I guess there is a lot of spirit and pride that go into surviving my school, and to see who made it through it all also, your friends.

99% of my senior class graduates, so its not really a big deal if u DO graduate.

The graduation rate at my school is really high too. I'll see my friends the 2 weeks before I graduate. I might have messed up priorities but Vacation>Graduation.

99.9+% (100%) graduate at my school......but I still think that it's important to attend, valedictorian or last.

I don't really have a choice now. My parents already booked everything. Penthouse of a 5 Star Hotel.

If I was last place I would never attend a graduation ceremony, for it would be too shameful.

I would go, even if I was last place. If you graduated, you passed, and if you passed, you deserve just as much respect as first. You never know the difference between first and last other than GPA.
