Not good at math..

Never have been.
Got a 510 on SAT Math section with no prep..

My question is should I try out the ACT and see if I score better?
OR just focus on the SAT..

I'm at a loss.
I need a 1100-1200 Math/CR for the SAT (got a 1040 in March).
Or a 23-25 composite ACT...

Which is more attainable?

Act…you can guess! :D

Have you taken pre-cal/trig yet? If not the ACT might not be best yet.

I’ve taken some Trig in Alg 1/11 & Geometry.
Thanks.

Still any input in helpful!

And thanks mathisfun111!

I’d give the ACT a try. It couldn’t hurt and you might find it to be a bit easier. Good luck!

You should certainly take the ACT to see how you do. The ACT is a more “straightforward” test, but it contains some more advanced material. Some people do better on this kind of test, others do better on the SAT.

You should also take the SAT again, but not without some preparation. If you go in cold, your score is not likely to improve very much (unless you had a particularly bad day the first time around). As a Math Professor, and math tutor I can only really speak for the math part of the SAT. Make sure you learn SAT specific strategies, and practice SAT Math problems 10 to 20 minutes a day. I can send you a few free chapters from my SAT Math strategy book if you send me a pm (that goes for anyone interested who is reading this message). Best of luck.
