I didn't do well on the final exam and got B- in Gen Chemistry II. I got B+ in chem and C+ in chem lab last semester (~3.57 overall GPA and ~3.3 BCMP). This semester I received B- in Chem and A- in chem lab (~3.64 overall GPA and ~3.44 BCMP). As a result, I have ~3.61 overall GPA and ~3.38 BCMP. How would medical school view this, especially B- in chem and a small upward trend in GPA/BCMP? Do they look at grades in individual classes or just overall GPA and BCMP of each year?

I have read that med schools look at the overall GPA, the BCMP, for any Cs or lower, and specifically what you got in organic chemistry. You will probably be taking that next year, and most find it much harder than gen chemistry. My D has absolutely sweated to get a B in o-chem.

Certainly all this information is available to them. They will see your BCPM, your Overall, and your All Other GPAs, as well as the specific grades you received in each class.

Your GPA is also broken down for them by semester: BCPM, AO, and Overall.
