Not home on the 27th -- wait or view decisions while away?

On the 27th, I will be hearing back from many colleges that I applied to. Unfortunately, I have an EC event that day which means I will not be home until very late that night/early morning.

Do you think it would be best to wait until I get home? I'm afraid I will be anxious and nervous throughout the day if I don't check, but I would also prefer to view my decisions in the comfort of my home.

Does anybody have any advice? I know this sounds silly since I will have to face the decisions eventually, but it is a stressful time (and it will be an esp. stressful day).

Do what is best for you, and let it go XD
We’re all in the same boat!

As a parent who just went through the ED/EA process this year with my daughter, I can tell you that your parents will want to be there with you when you get the decisions, both for the thrill of the acceptance and to support you after the rejection/waitlists. They have been through the process with you, don’t deny them being there when you cross the finish line. In the end you’ll be glad they were there with you.

As a parent, I was with my daughter when she got her early. I picked her up from school and we checked in the car using our hotspot. It was good news and we were elated. Those kids that chose to do it alone in school, especially those that did not get good news, were devastated without anyone meaningful around to help them through it. Personally, I would wait.

If you can- wait. Last week my daughter heard from her top choice school (she had already been accepted at 5 other places) and we had every reason to believe she would get in. I even had the video going. But, much to our shock, she was waitlisted and went from “this is where I am going” to “I don’t want to go to college” in about 60 seconds. I am so glad she came home from an event she was at to view the decision with us, her parents. She was nearly inconsolable for a few days, but now she is realizing that perhaps this was a blessing and she is excited to have narrowed it down to 3 great choices.

Where did she get wait listed Laurapb23

Last week may be Northwestern.

Thank you, everyone.

I will wait until I get home to open them, even if the wait will be nerve-wrecking. I’ll try to keep myself distracted. I don’t anticipate that I would have a terrible reaction even if I am rejected to these schools since I realize they are all reaches and have already been accepted to a reach that I would be happy to attend, but I still think it would be best to wait and view them while at home.

Personally, I’d do it at home on my desktop with my family.

Although, the result will be the same.
