For some reason i find my self not proving in math at all i get review every question in bb but always end up getting like 4-5 wrong every section. Any tips ?

if you find yourself not understanding the concepts, grubers does a great job in reviewing concepts covered in sat math

Make a spreadsheet of the 4-5 questions:

Row 1 (BB Test # Question #)

Row 2 (Academic Subject) [i.e. Exponents + Functions]

Row 3 (Typical Strategy) [i.e. Straight math / Plugging in / Backsolving]

Do that for all your 4-5 questions. Then do the excel chart and see if there are some overwhelming problem areas. It may be that there are a few commonly tested concepts that you don’t totally understand.

If you don’t know the “strategy”, just ask on the board and folks with tell you not just how to do the math, but how to understand and approach the question.

Good luck.

Craig

I think Craig has a really nice idea there, but it may be hard to apply since most students don’t know every possible strategy. I would suggest something a bit simpler.

There are 5 difficulty levels in each of the 4 subject areas.

The 4 major subject areas are:

Number Theory
Algebra and Functions
Geometry
Probability, Statistics, and Data Analysis

For each of these areas figure out what level you are stuck on. For example, if you are getting all Level 3 number theory problems right, but missing a lot of level 4 number theory questions, then focus on level 4 number theory.

Strategies is a separate issue. If you are weak in SAT specific math strategies you may want to check out my strategy threads. Here is the one I started for basic strategies:
