Not in the top 10%.. relative high SAT's..

<p>What are my chances at UT-Austin's CAS for Biology major?</p>

<p>Korean male, came to the US 4 years ago (Permanent resident)
Senior from Suburban Houston, Texas
SAT: 1460 single sitting (710v 750m)
GPA: UW 3.73/4.0 W 4.8/6.0
Class rank: Low after transferring from a NY school.. my registrar wrote a letter regarding this disadvantage.. 126/624; top 20.18%
SAT II:
Math IIC 750
Math IC 730
US History 660 (5 on the AP..)
Biology 650 (4 on the AP.., retaking)
Writing 640 (retaking)</p>

<p>Currently enrolled in: Calc BC, AP Lit, AP Govt, AP Psychology, Physics H,
Spanish III H, Band</p>

<p>Other AP courses completed: Bio, Eng Lang, US History, Comp Sci</p>

<p>EC's: Marching/concert band 4 years, clarinetist.
Band won 4th place in Nationals
Junior Engineering Technical Society Historian
National Honor Society
JV Soccer 9,10
Academic Decathlon
Rehabilitation Pavilion Therapeutic Recreation Volunteer, 100+ hrs.

<p>I think you'll get in...your class rank doesn't help, but your APs and stadardized tests are a major plus. As long as you have a good essay/teacher recs. then you should make it. :)</p>

<p>I think you have a better shot than most non-top-ten percenters at getting in. Good luck.</p>

<p>you'll probably get in - btw hope is still alive for people who are not in the top 10%... my friend was in the top 25% at my school and got in a couple of weeks after he applied... well, he got a 1600 SAT, so i guess that helped</p>
