Can anybody make recommendations on some really excellent colleges that aren't Ivy League or Ivy-league competitive? It seems like most of us focus on the same ten or fifteen colleges, but I know there are a lot of great schools out there....

Look at CC Top Universities. All of those schools are not ivy league and are excellent.

Stanford and MIT

Ivies aren't the best schools...

this depends greatly on your interests, but there's a great list I love, Colleges That Change Lives (ctcl.com).

The Ivy League is not the be-all and end-all of Colleges Worth Attending.

lol I just had a thought:

We should petition the mods to rename "CC Top Universities" to "Not the Ivy League." ;)

You really should only try for the Ivies, as you most likely will not suceed in life if you do not go to an Ivy.

Correct. Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Duke...all of these students are doomed.

Redenbacher, you just ****ed me off! I was so happy that a joke didn't questioned...but somebody always has to be serious.
