Not mentioning a school attended in application?

I took one class at De Anza College during the summer and got a B. The B hurts my GPA a lot, so I don't want to report that grade. I don't regularly attend De Anza, because I go to West Valley. Do I have to report that class when applying to UCs?

Yes, you need to report every class you’ve taken at every school.

If you don’t report it, they will find out and it will ruin you.

Yeah, you have to report everything.

And unless you have a 4.0 I have a tough time seeing a B ruining your entire application.

Word of advice: you will list everything to the exact wording of the classes or your going to get black listed for lying on your application; no misunderstanding…once you go through that route you will never go back

Ahh. Alright. I had over a 3.9, and this B+ brought it down to a 3.88. Every little bit counts because I’m applying for Econ at UCLA and it’s extremely competitive to get into that major. Average GPA admitted was 3.91 I think. I’m pretty scared now.

You realize that “average” implies that about half the people they admit are below that, right? Sure, 3.9_ is a little better than 3.88, but it’s not like your chances are shot. Keep your GPA up, do all your pre-reqs, and write good essays. You’ll be fine.

I would be much more scared getting into UCLA with a 3.9X and unreported grades. They find out and you’ll be expelled and have a nice note on your record for other colleges to see. I agree with what others have said, a 3.88 isn’t gunna kill you esp. if the average is 3.9.

They find out if you don’t report. It may not happen now, but 2 months down the road you will get a nice email stating that they found an unreported grade and your university days will be numbered.
Good friend’s sophomore roommate didn’t report attendance at Santa Monica. Two months later, university kicked her out.

Wait, De Anza in Cupertino? I used to live right there (well, if you count Sunnyvale as right there)!

If I retake that class next semester, will it help me in any way? Or do I just have to deal with that B while applying.

You can’t retake classes where you earned a C or better. UCs will only count grades completed up until the end of the Fall semester when calculating your GPA.

Alright. I guess I’ll just work with what I have and try to beast my essays and hopefully I’ll get an acceptance to UCLA. =)
