One of the admissions counselors told me last week that
UMich has NOT accepted ANY of the deferred pool students
for LAST 8 or 9 years. (This was confirmed by one of my school's counselor last week as well)

Michigan is my first choice but I was deferred in January.
I have improved 100 points on my SAT since then,
and had 4.0 for 1st semester.
But after I heard this.. I dont know.. I probably shouldn't keep my hopes too high.

Seems like a lot of people are ****ed off at michigan this year for various reasons hehe

i think he meant wait listed students. Ive heard of several kids who were deferred and then accepted already. However there have been no one moving up from the wait list pool.

uh i believe they meant wait list...not deferred. a lot of people who have been deferred have already been accepted...but mich's waitlist pool is pretty much a pool...try as you might you won't be getting anymore...

he definitely said deferred.
And it is impossible for people to have gotten accepted this soon after getting deferred, because he also said that they have not even started looking at deferred applicants yet (as of end of march).

Yeah but I do remember someone saying that they received a deferral letter and then acceptance few days later.

I think whoever you talked to was a little confused, maybe knocked back a few bottles before talking to you or something. There has definatly been people who were deferred and later accepted. being wait listed has become their way of saying you're good but we're still going to reject you

I think I recall people who were defered then accepted later on. Your counselor screwed up and really means waitlisted individuals. So you still have a shot, good luck!

Whoever told you that is stone cold wrong.

Also, anyone who wants to quote information from 5-6 years ago is out of their mind--U-M's process has changed a lot in the last two years. A lot is different.
