Not much time and so unsure

Right now I’m deciding between BC, Tufts, and Wake Forest. Every single time I think I know where I want to go, something about another school starts to attract me. I know this is a very personal decision, but I think some outside insight could really help.

So…please?

what do you love about each school, what is holding you back. by the way, a lot of students compare bc and wake, tufts sems to be the odd ball to me.

i doubt you could make a mistake with any of these schools. trust your instincts and choose the school were you feel you fit in best and that has the overall atmosphere you are seeking.

I would not go to Wake Forest, especially if you have never lived in the south. Stick with either BC or Tufts.

Why would anyone want to go to Wake Forest?

Do you realize they call that place WORK Forest?

They work you to death

You will be doing work 24/7

There is huge grade deflation as well

So you’ll be working your arse off, and you still most likely won’t get nearly as many A’s as you would at any other college

Immediately cross Work Forest off your list

Now between BC and Tufts, BC has a lot more prestige

^^ Not really…Tufts is equally prestigious if not more. Maybe the average person on the road my think BC is more famous (because of football and stuff)…but almost anyone else who has some insight into american colleges would put BC and Tufts on the same platform.

In academic circles, Tufts might have the edge.

Business wise BC is definitely better

BC is much better then Tufts.

I think all three schools have a lot to offer. Can you tell us a little more about yourself? It’s impossible to pick what school is better for you if we don’t have a clue what your taste is like.

The artsy-Latte-sipping may like Tufts.

The charming-belle may fit better at Wake Forest.

The well-rounded-hipster may want to call BC home.

These are all gross stereotypes, of course.

ngkelvinsk - Tufts dosnt have an undergraduate business program, so there’s no basis for saying that BC is better for business.

I want to clarify that when I said hipster, I didn’t actually mean Allen Ginsberg and the counter-culture crew. I meant style-conscious, fun-loving youth.

umm seeing as tufts doesnt have an undergrad business program, i would say that is definitely grounds to say that BC is better for business…how would one study business at tufts?

I don’t recall foxahollow ever saying that he wanted to go for business. But I am class of 2012 and I was at the same situation as you (with almost Equal FA packages from both colleges) and I chose Tufts. This might be personal, but when I visited BC, it just didn’t have the college type of atmosphere which I was looking for.

Btw, what do you plan to major in?

^^^ I agree that Boston College doesn’t “feel” like a college. Its weird and hard to explain, but every once and a while I have to remind myself that I am actually in college.

^^^ I agree that Boston College doesn’t “feel” like a college. Its weird and hard to explain, but every once and a while I have to remind myself that I am actually in college.

Can you please try your best to explain that?

^^^ that is really interesting that you say that. I actually feel the opposite. I give campus tours to prospective students at BC, and I always respond that “BC is the perfect college experience” when asked why I chose the University. Academics are top-notch, sports provide a fun, community-oriented atmosphere, and we have a gorgeous, sterotypically-gothic “college” campus.

I’m curious to see what you all say about BC not “feeling like a college”.

Also, back to the OP’s question: the three schools are very comparable academically, but also very different. Academics aside (because they are so comparable), what do you want to experience in the next four years of your life? Southern life? Life in suburban Boston? Sports? U-grad business? Religious school? Intellectual vs. “well rounded” environment? etc. etc… go with the school that best fits YOU. and of course I certainly hope that is BC!

Dude, I think you’re doing it wrong. ClassicGuitar, I get the distinct impression that you don’t do college very well.

Maybe its because I grew up in college towns like Chapel Hill where the whole town is oriented towards the campus. BC just doesn’t feel like college sometimes and I’m not the only one who shares this sentiment–I have several friends who have mentioned this to me. BTW, I’m “doing” college just fine. I have made great friends and I am excelling in all of my classes (not to brag, especially considering how easy some of them are).
