not number 2 pencil?

for section two of the SAT last saturday, I might have used a pencil that was not exactly a number two pencil... It was like a 2.___ pencil (decimal)... Afterwards, I realized it but didn't have time to erase and rebubble so I just used a number two pencil to try to cover those marks... Will this cause the section not to be scanned? help!

I think you'll be okay, and if not, you can always request hand scoring.

bump............

No big deal. I took the National Latin Exam in a #1.5 pencil (by mistake) and didn't have any problems.

It's okay I think, as long as you bubbled it dark enough

if you colored over it it doesnt matter. the machine detects number 2 pencil markings but won't dectect anything else so if you used a number 3 it will seem like you skiped it

i heard that proctors don't even allow u to use mech. #2 pencils, only wooden ones. is that true?

That's a CB rule, to help prevent cheating.

No mechanical pencils?! That is all I use!

To the OP, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pencil#Grading_.26_classification

scroll down a bit, and look at the difference between 2 and 2 1/2. It's barely noticeable. You have nothing to worry about. All the scantron is looking for is a mark, and 2.5 definitely will do the job.

^ok, so it's just looking for a mark? (pencil)... I really hope my reading score doesn't end up to be 400 because of this...

how does mechanical pencil show cheating?

some mechanical pencils are clear and you can tuck in crib sheets and view them while taking the test.

also a scantron just scans the paper with a light and records the point of reflection, and it will use that to determine if you have the right answer of not. so i think if you just use a pencil that can reflect enough light you'll be fine. at least that;s what our history teacher told us when we take his scantron tests.

you'll be fine. .

no need to worry unless you bubbled really light or something.
