Not really about the SAT but still important

I got a pretty good score on the SAT, above 2200. Anyways, my real query is this. I go to an elite private school in a major metropolitan area on the east coast. It has a VERY rigorous courseload and has the highest number of AP tests per stuent in the city. all classes there are considered to be of honors caliber there, and it says this on the transcript. Now I have a relatively good GPA, not as good as some of the other people on this forum but no offense, I think my school might be a little bit tougher. I, as many other people do, realize you can get a good education anywhere but want to go to an elite school, preferably an ivy. I have good extracurriculars, mainly concentrated in one field, but, as I said before, my GPA is not a 4.0. I do, on the other hand, have connections, both financial and legacy, at these schools. Now, after having written all that boring crap, here is my question; does this help my chances of getting into one of these "elite" schools?

Its pretty late out here. I need some replies.

Many colleges do consider and/or compensate for a high school's "reputation." Though that consideration can vary widely based on how each college defines "reputation." For example, a college that has had numerous current or former students from your high school can look at their academic success at college and gauge how well the high school prepared them for the experience. A college that hasn't had many students from your school has to go by other means. I'm not entirely certain what those means are (I'm not an admissions officer) but they do exist; one might be comparing the educational success of others from your home town, regardless of school -- not optimal, but a rough guess.

I wouldn't stress about it, though, because there's not much you can do about it anyway, at this point. :-) Relax. Worry about important thigns; this isn't one of them.

Connections? I always thought attaching a large check to your app and/or having alumni write recommendations and/or having alumni relatives is a wonderful thing. And the rigorous highschool definitely helps, anyway. Don't worry.

Good responses

P.S. Anyone like my forum name? I got it from one of my favorite movies. A llama to the person that guesses it.

dude isnt that from Fight Club

nice work G

I see your point
