Not reporting SAT or AP score

How do colleges know whether we are hiding any AP or SAT scores? Say if we score 5 on 5 APs and a 2 on AP, say, English, can we not report that? And if we just send the highest seat at the SAT without showing anything else, is it possible?

If you have taken AP classes and don’t want to report, ADCOM might think you hide something or assume you didn’t do well on the AP exam. As for SAT, I think it depends on schools that you apply. School like Stanford wants you to report all SAT. Other school, like Wake Forest, does not care to look at SAT at all, unless if you are applying for their scholarships, then may be they will look at the SAT scores.

You can pay a $10 fee and request that a score not be sent to the college(s) of your choice. The AP score will show up on the report sent to you and your high school, but it will not show up on the report that goes out to whichever colleges you request. If you change your mind at a later date, you just send $15 with a request to send the blocked AP score to the college of your choice.

In response to sk8mom: So true about scores, but you can always say that you don’t want the credit because you want to take the course at college. Some colleges won’t care about a missing AP score. Frankly, if you have alot of AP scores, they probably won’t even notice that one score is missing. Orientation/registration is hectic, and the advisors probably have better things to do than check for a missing AP score. At least, this was the experience my DS had. He blocked a score of 4 on an AP exam because he wants to take the course at college. He didn’t feel like his HS teacher really gave him a solid education in one particular subject. The college didn’t even blink about the missing AP score.

1) So even if I get a 2 at AP English I can choose not to report the score, right? So is there any deadline before which we must block or otherwise the score will be sent to college?
2) If we are accepted, but slacked off right before AP exam. If we do badly on that, can our admission be revoked?
3) How does a school like Stanford know how many SAT we have taken if we don’t report?

You need to go to the College Board website to find all the answers to the questions you have about AP and SAT scores. You can also find the answers to your AP questions in your AP student pack. (You got this when you bubbled in your answer sheets with personal information for your AP exams.) As a final option you can always call College Board and ask about sending your AP scores to your college choices.

Yes, a college can revoke your acceptance if you slack off senior year. The college will check your final high school transcript to make sure you are still on track. Work hard senior year, and you’ll be fine.
