I am 99.9% sure I will not receive financial aid if I apply for it, but i still filed the fafsa because it’s the thing to do. Some schools, like Tufts, are need-aware, so would it help those applications to indicate that I am not requesting financial aid?
It could.
But if admitted and you DO end up needing need aid they will not likely give it to you.
Tufts alsomrequires the Profile. If you don’t submit that, you will not receive a dime of institutional aid from them anyway.
Are you sure your family can pay almost $70,000 each year for your undergrad education? Ask your parents. They might think different of this than you do.
Applying for the aid won’t make a difference at need-aware places. Being determined to need more aid than they want to offer for a student like you is what makes the difference. If it is likely that you wouldn’t need much aid (find the Net Price Calculator at each website and run it for an estimate), then that dinky amount of aid isn’t likely to affect your admissions at all. Needing a lot of aid would be more likely to affect admissions.
