I was wondering, does it look bad if each year of High School my schedule is literally half electives.? I know I'm supposed to take the most rigorous schedule but I don't know if I want to give up any of my electives. Can somebody help? This is basically the schedule's I have planned.... HELP.
Your passion for the arts is very nice, but I think you should focus a lot more on those APs and sciences and maths.

I see that you’re not going to take AP Calculus at all throughout your high school at this point of time, but you may want to look that over.

Also, unless JROTC is super important to you (I’m talking like “Can’t live without it” important), take another AP Science.

Even if you have no intentions of majoring in a science or math, it is good to be all rounded in high school.

Otherwise, you’re fine.

To be honest, do what you love. If you don’t like math or science, don’t concentrate in it. If you want to do more with JROTC and Drama and your other electives, go for it! Try to keep a rigorous schedule, but don’t forgo your passions for one. Colleges want to see you excel in your passions before you try to round yourself out with classes you hate.

On another note, most people take Lang, then Lit.

It’s not so much about concentration as it is about having a certain skill set that will enable a person to contribute in society. If you like JROTC or Drama, go for it, but also pay attention to everything else.

I’m against the whole Drama thing every year but if its your passion go for it.
On the collegeboard’s website it says to take 5 academic classes every year.
But i like your schedule, you will have ALOT of hooks for college and your schedule shows you have passion for njrotc drama and band while still taking challenging courseload

Moose97 : Your post was the most helpful.
I’m thinking about adding another online class, so I can put in a AP Science. They’re all 2 Periods, so I will probably have to have an English class or Pre-Calculus online. Or I’ll just take a AP Science online. One or the other. I’ll probably also Drop Math for College Readiness and Take AP Calculus because I keep hearing that I’ll need at least ONE AP Math.
On another note, I don’t HAVE to take Drama each year, because I can still do Drama Club without it, but I’ll have more time to practice for Competition and Shows without messing up my after school activities. I also don’t know if I’m sticking with Band and JROTC, only time will tell. But I WILL find a way to add one or two sciences and that math class.
I just want my College Apps to show diversity and passion, rather than the usual “I did AP and nothing else” approach.

Supine : I know, I messed up the order. Thanks though.

Weeknd :I’m going to try to take at least 1 academic class a year online to make up for my electives. And thank you for always commenting with GREAT advice. <3
